FCP_FMG_AD-7.4 belongs to an older Fortinet certification era. It should not be presented as a current credential target in 2026. Fortinet changed its certification program on July 15, 2026, retired the FCP certification label, and moved FortiManager administration into the numbered NSE structure. The current FortiManager path is Fortinet NSE 6 – FortiManager 7.6 Administrator.<\/p>\n
That does not make older FortiManager 7.4 knowledge useless. Concepts such as ADOMs, device registration, policy packages, revisions, workflow control, centralized deployment, and troubleshooting still provide a useful foundation. The important step is to map that knowledge to the active 7.6 exam and current product behavior instead of studying the legacy code as though it can still be earned.<\/p>\n

Every feature makes more sense when you ask what problem it solves in a multi-device environment and what evidence confirms that the central intent became device state.<\/p>\n Administrative Domains, or ADOMs, help separate devices, policy, and administrative responsibility. A candidate should understand why an organization might create boundaries around regions, business units, customers, or software versions and what operational risks appear when those boundaries are poorly designed.<\/p>\n Do not memorize ADOM screens in isolation. Practice deciding which objects and workflows should be shared, which should remain separated, and who should be permitted to change them.<\/p>\n Adding a FortiGate to FortiManager is not simply an inventory action. The process establishes trust, imports or associates configuration state, and creates a relationship between central management and the managed device. Candidates should be able to distinguish what FortiManager believes the state should be from what is actually running on the FortiGate.<\/p>\n That difference becomes critical during troubleshooting. A successful central edit does not prove that a device received or installed the change.<\/p>\n Policy packages make it possible to manage reusable policy intent across devices while still accommodating local requirements. Understand package scope, objects, mappings, installation targets, and validation.
