The Most Effective 15 Platforms for TEAS Practice and Preparation

The most useful TEAS preparation resource is one that addresses your actual Reading, Mathematics, Science or English and Language Usage weakness. ATI’s official materials provide the clearest reference for the current exam. Independent courses, question banks and free learning platforms can supplement them, but their questions, score estimates, formats and costs are not interchangeable.

This guide compares 15 identifiable TEAS preparation resources, including official practice, independent TEAS-specific programmes, tutoring, institution-provided materials and general learning tools. They are not all full-length TEAS test providers, and the order is not a ranking or endorsement. Examine the current syllabus, sample rationales, access terms and source of questions before paying.

Know the TEAS Version 7 format before buying practice

ATI TEAS Version 7 has 170 questions in 209 minutes of testing, plus a separate ten-minute break after Mathematics. There are 150 scored and 20 unscored pretest questions mixed across four separately timed sections. The clock for a completed section does not carry into the next one.

Section Total items Scored items Time
Reading 45 39 55 minutes
Mathematics 38 34 57 minutes
Science 50 44 60 minutes
English and Language Usage 37 33 37 minutes

Question formats include standard multiple choice, multiple-select, fill-in-the-blank, ordered response and hot spots. ATI’s current rules do not provide partial credit for multiple-select items. You can flag or change answers within the active section while time remains, but cannot return after submitting that section. There is no penalty for guessing; unanswered items are marked incorrect.

A real TEAS may be proctored online by ATI or an institution, at a school site, or at a PSI testing centre, depending on what your intended nursing or allied-health programme accepts. The institution determines which administration mode, score requirements and retake rules it recognises. A practice site cannot override those policies.

15 TEAS preparation resources to compare

1. ATI Official TEAS Prep — issuer-written practice

Role: the current exam reference. ATI provides a free practice assessment, study guides, SmartPrep subject modules, a prep app, flashcards and paid online Practice Assessments A and B. The paid A/B forms contain 150 practice questions each with rationales; each form may be taken twice, using the same questions for its second attempt. The guide’s separate practice test is another product, so check what a bundle includes before purchasing duplicate access.

Start with the current ATI TEAS VII forms, not an older product card lacking the VII designation. Use official reports to identify weak objectives, then retest on unfamiliar problems rather than assuming a repeated answer proves improvement. Even a paid issuer practice score does not guarantee the result of a future proctored examination.

2. Mometrix — TEAS-focused practice and explanations

Role: independent question practice plus structured lessons. Mometrix offers a TEAS 7 practice test, subject-specific review, an online course, explanatory videos and printed or digital study materials. It can be useful when a content gap requires a worked explanation alongside questions.

Compare the current online course, free test and separate book editions before subscribing. Their included assessment counts and access policies may differ. Mometrix is independent of ATI; a simulated score or promotional improvement claim does not constitute an official TEAS prediction.

3. NurseHub — subject-by-subject TEAS diagnostics

Role: targeted TEAS 7 practice and nursing-programme preparation. NurseHub provides subject-area practice tests and structured preparation options. It is a reasonable choice when you want to identify whether Reading, Math, Science or English is accounting for repeated misses before deciding on longer lessons.

Test a free sample and inspect the explanations. Check whether a particular plan includes full-length timed practice and whether any guarantee has conditions; no commercial promise replaces your intended school’s admissions requirements.

4. Smart Edition Academy — video-led TEAS 7 preparation

Role: guided lesson and exam simulation. Smart Edition offers TEAS 7 practice tests, question explanations and a course organised by the tested sections. It may suit someone who wants an explicit sequence from a diagnostic to lessons and targeted retesting.

Confirm which timed practice forms and video explanations are included with the current access tier. Judge usefulness by whether you can solve new questions after watching an explanation, not by how many lesson videos have played.

5. Pocket Prep — short mobile question sessions

Role: focused review away from a full workstation. Pocket Prep has an ATI TEAS exam question product with small quizzes, mistake review and progress indicators. Short sessions can help revisit a difficult concept between classes or shifts.

Mobile practice is supplementary. A few phone questions cannot rehearse the 209-minute exam structure, section transitions and ten-minute break. Check which content is available in a free tier and whether the app reflects current Version 7 topics.

6. Union Test Prep — free guides, flashcards and practice

Role: low-cost subject review. Union Test Prep maintains TEAS study guides, free practice questions and flashcards. Its sections may help reinforce grammar, algebra, reading evidence or foundational science without requiring a large course purchase.

Free content and premium features can differ. Review source quality and correct questionable clinical or science statements using ATI’s outline and a reliable textbook. A free quiz percentage is not the same as a score from a proctored ATI exam.

7. BoostPrep — course modules and mock exams

Role: an independent programme combining TEAS 7 lessons, practice exams, question explanations and a custom exam builder. A structured product can help candidates who want full-topic coverage and repeated timed work.

Marketing claims about large libraries or a guaranteed pass should be checked against the actual contract, refunds and scope. An unusually high count of full-length mock exams is not an argument for taking them without reviewing errors between sittings.

8. Test-Guide — introductory practice questions

Role: accessible initial quizzes and study guidance. Test-Guide provides free TEAS practice items, section-oriented resources and some explanations. It may help a learner decide where further preparation is needed before purchasing a course.

Check the update date and whether the exercise contains current Version 7 alternate response formats. Use its results as provisional diagnostics, not as an official ATI score conversion.

9. Study.com — self-paced subject lessons

Role: building academic foundations through short video lessons, quizzes and a TEAS preparation course. This can be useful if you repeatedly miss an underlying chemistry idea or English usage rule and need an explanation before trying new TEAS items.

Inspect trial restrictions and which practice tests are included in a chosen plan. A lesson on the right scientific topic is not necessarily written to match TEAS’s precise timing, response mechanics or score reporting.

10. Nurse Cheung — TEAS 7 instruction and practice

Role: subject explanations and TEAS-specific question material. Nurse Cheung offers instructional videos and preparation products covering TEAS Math, Science and other areas, including practice questions.

Distinguish a purchased PDF question collection or video playlist from an authenticated full-length exam simulator. Prefer recent, clearly explained items and compare any uncertain factual assertion with ATI’s outline or an established nursing or science source.

11. Varsity Tutors — live help and short practice

Role: instructor support where self-study has not corrected a specific problem. Varsity Tutors offers test-preparation instruction and some TEAS-related practice quizzes. An individual tutor can be useful for persistent algebra setup, reading inference or foundational Science misunderstandings.

Confirm actual TEAS 7 expertise, lesson structure, feedback, fees and cancellation terms. Tutoring is not required for every candidate, and general academic coaching alone cannot recreate the official TEAS interface.

12. NURSING.com TEAS study plan — foundational nursing-related lessons

Role: supplementary science and academic content review. NURSING.com lists a TEAS preparation study plan with lessons covering scientific concepts, reading and mathematics. These lessons may be useful for someone who needs explanation of a body system or a basic chemistry relationship.

Do not treat a course lesson library as proof that it includes current ATI-formatted full-length practice tests or adaptive scoring. Confirm the product’s actual study-plan and quiz scope before using it as a primary TEAS simulator.

13. LearningExpress Library / PrepStep — library-based practice

Role: preparation available through participating educational institutions or libraries. LearningExpress/PrepStep collections include TEAS-related practice exams, career preparation and review materials. Colleges such as Daytona State and Lake Superior College describe access through their libraries.

Availability depends on institutional subscriptions and authentication. A student’s campus may not provide the same materials or the newest TEAS revision. Check the listed edition and test blueprint, and ask the library for access instructions instead of assuming public unlimited availability.

14. Quizlet — self-created and community flashcards

Role: retrieval of compact facts, units, definitions and grammar rules. Quizlet contains user-made TEAS 7 sets and flashcard features. You can create a small deck from mistakes on your own verified questions, then test recall over multiple days.

Community-made material is not ATI-authored or automatically accurate. Some sets contain outdated question counts, incorrect biology facts or alleged “actual exam questions.” Verify each unfamiliar card and never depend on a third-party deck as a primary licensure-school admissions reference.

15. Khan Academy — free prerequisite subject lessons

Role: foundations in algebra, percentages, chemistry, cell biology, anatomy-related concepts and writing conventions. Khan Academy can help when a TEAS question exposes a concept you have never learned confidently.

Khan Academy is not itself an ATI TEAS 7 adaptive mock-exam platform. Use its lessons to repair a prerequisite skill, then measure transfer using ATI or another current TEAS question source.

Choose the resource by what went wrong

Need Suitable resource type What to check next
Learn current test mechanics ATI official free practice, user guidance and current test plan Section order, item formats, calculators and timing
Establish a baseline Current ATI practice form or a clearly identified independent diagnostic Weak section and reasoning error, not just total result
Science foundations Accurate instructor-led lessons, textbook or Khan Academy Apply the concept to unfamiliar TEAS Science questions
Math or grammar gaps Topic-specific lessons and explanation-rich problem sets Correct the same operation in new context
Limited time for review Mobile or flashcard practice Recall improves without replacing longer timed work
Full-exam endurance Official or current-version full-length timed TEAS simulator Review all significant misses between attempts
Need human feedback Faculty, tutoring or scheduled course Specific mistaken reasoning improves after feedback

How to interpret a TEAS practice result

ATI reports an Adjusted Individual Total Score and subject or topic-level results. This is not necessarily identical to the raw percentage of all 170 questions answered correctly: 20 items are unscored, and ATI describes an adjusted scoring process. A score from an independent practice platform should not be presented as the same score an ATI proctored exam would produce.

TEAS itself does not have one national nursing-school admission passing mark. Each receiving programme sets minimums, accepted test versions, section expectations, repeat-attempt limits and score-report rules. Verify those policies before selecting a target or paying for additional practice. A study programme does not override a school’s eligibility date.

Build a practical study cycle from the results

  1. Identify the exam. Confirm TEAS Version 7 and the receiving school’s test mode, eligibility and score rules.
  2. Take a diagnostic. Use an official ATI practice form or a clearly labelled independent diagnostic under realistic timing.
  3. Classify mistakes. Distinguish missing knowledge, misunderstood instructions, scientific reasoning, weak reading evidence, calculation and pacing.
  4. Repair a narrow weakness. Use one reliable lesson or question source, explain the correction and try new items.
  5. Recheck the current format. Practise alternative item types, on-screen Math calculator, within-section flag/return, and the break after Math.
  6. Take another checkpoint. Reassess unfamiliar items only after meaningful review, rather than burning multiple similar full-length tests without feedback.

ATI’s Practice Tests A and B each contain their own fixed set of 150 practice questions. A second allowed attempt to the same form may measure familiarity with those exact items; use fresh questions to distinguish memory from new learning. There is no publisher-mandated study period of exactly six or eight weeks, and no guaranteed score increase from doing a specified number of mock exams every seven days.

What to check before a paid purchase

Read the exact access duration, price, included question forms, number of truly distinct practice tests, trial limits, refund conditions and subscription renewal requirements. Decide whether the purchase adds a new learning function. Two courses covering the same general Science lessons may be less helpful than one explanation source and a set of accurately written new questions.

Be cautious with services advertising leaked or actual future TEAS exam items, guaranteed admissions, or unverified pass percentages. Ethical, original practice with clear rationales is better than memorising material of unknown provenance. Confirm that a website offering mock exams is not presenting an outdated TEAS 6 section structure as Version 7.

Final choice

Use ATI to anchor your preparation. Select a few independent resources only where they solve diagnosed weaknesses: lessons for understanding, questions for application, flashcards for accurate retrieval, and full-length simulations for timing and stamina. The useful result is stronger reasoning on unfamiliar Reading, Math, Science and English questions—not the number of subscriptions you accumulate.
